Caltech Science Exchange: Can We Build Safer, Lighter, Longer-Lasting Batteries?

0 Просмотры
Innovations in energy storage are critical to the transition from fossil fuels to alternative sustainable energy sources. These necessary major breakthroughs will come from creative scientists and engineers.

In this video, Caltech researcher Julia Greer—Ruben F. and Donna Mettler Professor of Materials Science, Mechanics and Medical Engineering; Fletcher Jones Foundation Director of the Kavli Nanoscience Institute—describes innovations that could make battery technology more sustainable, safer, and useful for alternative energy. Her lab seeks to make batteries that do not contain dangerous liquid electrolytes and batteries that are nano-architected to be lighter and fatigue-resistant.
